what we believe

when Black women and femmes are held, the entire community feels it.
the Black Healing Collective Theory of Change
our theory of change illustrates how the Black Healing Collective transforms the lives of Black women and femmes through community-rooted care. by addressing the urgent needs caused by systemic harm—such as lack of access to mental health care, housing instability, and economic hardship—we provide culturally relevant resources like therapy assistance, rent relief, and healing-centered programming.
this visual framework shows the path from intervention to impact:
from survival to stability. from isolation to community.
and from harm to holistic healing.
when Black women and femmes are supported with love, care, and tangible resources, they don’t just heal— they lead movements, raise thriving families, and reshape futures. our ecosystem is built on this belief: healing is a radical act, and when we heal together, we rise together.

PROBLEM
Black women and femmes, particularly single, under-supported moms, sexual assault survivors, and those impacted by family policing systems, are disproportionately burdened by trauma, systemic neglect, and economic disenfranchisement. traditional service models often ignore their specific needs, forcing them to choose between healing and survival.
INTERVENTION
the Collective offers culturally competent care and community-centered initiatives that are grounded in abolitionist values and Black feminist thought. our programming intentionally integrates joy, softness, and pleasure as core strategies for healing.
OUTCOMES
in the short term, participants access tangible resources to stabilize their lives. in the long term, we cultivate a sustainable network of care that interrupts cycles of harm, builds autonomy, and reimagines what liberation can look like when healing is prioritized and supported at scale.
IMPACT
a transformed ecosystem where Black women and femmes are no longer navigating systems alone, but are held in a collective that invests in their well-being, dreams, and dignity— creating ripple effects of healing, leadership, and generational transformation across families and communities.

in 2023, we released our first communal survey—
did you know that according to the u.s. bureau of labor statistics the average american household spends about $5K a month on household expenses?
here’s what we found
the average monthly rent is anywhere from $1K to $2K
whereas, the average monthly income is anywhere from $1K to $3K
more than 40% of our community identifies as a single mom/parent
over 70% have stated that they are not in therapy due to costs and other systemic factors

-
by intentionally denying Black people access to economic opportunities, the ability to build intergenerational wealth, healthcare, education, and a sense of safety from governmental systems, racist policies increase the prevalence of risk factors for domestic violence

-
these systems create numerous barriers for survivors seeking safety. law enforcement officials often arrest Black survivors, and police, jurors and judges are less likely to believe Black survivors than white survivors. racist systems put Black people at greater risk of experiencing intimate partner violence.

THE URGENCY WE’RE RESPONDING TO
DID YOU KNOW?
THAT BY THE TIME THEY TURN 18, 53% OF BLACK CHILDREN WILL HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED BY CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES—COMPARED TO JUST 28% OF WHITE CHILDREN.
WE’RE BUILDING SYSTEMS THAT PROTECT BLACK FAMILIES, NOT PUNISH THEM.
over 70%
OF BLACK CHILDREN ARE RAISED BY SINGLE MOTHERS WHO OFTEN FACE FINANCIAL INSECURITY AND HAVE LIMITED ACCESS TO ADEQUATE RESOURCES SUCH AS CHILDCARE, HOUSING, AND EDUCATION.
WE PROVIDE THE RESOURCES AND SUPPORT BLACK MOTHERS NEED TO RAISE THEIR FAMILIES WITH STABILITY, DIGNITY AND JOY.
ONE IN FIVE
BLACK WOMEN ARE SUBJECTED TO RAPE. AND THAT FOR EVERY ONE THAT DOES REPORT AT LEAST FIFTEEN DO NOT OUT OF FEAR OF RACIAL, SYSTEMIC AND SEXIST BIAS.
WE CREATE SAFE, AFFIRMING SPACES WHERE SURVIVORS ARE BELIEVED, SUPPORTED, AND ARE NEVER ASKED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THEIR TRUTH AND THEIR SAFETY.
3X
BLACK WOMEN ARE THREE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO BE KILLED BY AN INTIMATE PARTNER THAN WHITE WOMEN. MANY VICTIMS LACK ACCESS TO SAFE HOUSING, LEGAL AID AND THERAPEUTIC COUNSELING.
WE MEET SYSTEMIC FAILURES WITH ACTION— SAFE HOUSING, ADVOCACY, AND HEALING-CENTERED CARE THAT PUTS SURVIVAL WITHIN REACH.

we can’t do this alone
healing is a collective act.
